The proposed wine tasting and fall kick-off events have been combined, and the combined event will
be held at the Casa Marina Hotel, Jacksonville Beach. The hotel will be contacted for an acceptable
date (preferably a Saturday) and board members will be notified by email. Since the meeting the date
has been set for August 28 (3pm - 6 pm). The cost per attendee will be $15.
A slate of officer nominees for 2010/2011 with the exception of the president elect was approved
unanimously. Board members will remain the same as for 2009/2010 except for one who moved away from
the area. Nominations will be voted on at the wine tasting / fall kick-off party. A president elect
is expected to be appropriately nominated and voted in during the fall football game viewing party period.
Other items discussed were football game viewing parties (will continue at Times Grill, hosts selected
for most parties, etc.) and the college fair situation.

Discussions were conducted on the spring banquet scheduled for April 26 at Maggiano's Restaurant.
A wine tasting event targeting young alumni is being considered in mid-June.
Since the current terms of officers and board members are being extended from May until August to
eventually achieve calendar operation like the UTAA, the development of a slate of nominees for 2010 / 2011
has been delayed but will be accomplished to allow board approval at the July meeting.
Also discussed were the recent Annual Leadership Conference and Awards Banquet (where the chapter was
presented a certificate for being an outstanding Two Star chapter for 2009 / 2010) and a Facebook page
for the chapter.

Jennifer Hendrich, Ed Galbury, Frances Tyler, and Matt Defflemy were welcomed as new board members.
Planning for the spring banquet continues. A more reasonably priced venue than some country clubs
contacted is desired for a high turn out.
In addition to the spring banquet, a wine tasting party is being considered as a young alumni event.
Although the Times Grill has proven to be an excellent location for viewing parties, conversation among
the 16 attendees at this meeting was difficult due to normal restaurant noise. Future board meetings will
be held elsewhere preferably at a restaurant with a private room. The board will be kept up to date by email
on this matter.
The availability of a block of from 6 to 8 tickets for the lady vols versus Florida basketball game in
Gainesville on January 14 was announced.

By unanimous vote the chapter will convert to calendar year operations for consistency with the UTAA. This
provides for term extensions of officers and board members to allow full calendar year terms to begin
January 1, 2012.
A canned food drive will be held at the Alabama football game viewing party.
Discussions also included progress with goals applicable to the new chapter tier program, preliminary
planning for the 2010 spring banquet, and a possible group trip to an away Florida or South Carolina basketball
game.

The Big Orange Caravan (BOC) Committee recommendation that 25% of the BOC (golf tournament and banquet)
profits be allocated to the University of Tennessee Alumni Association (UTAA) and 25% to the Volunteer Athletic
Scholarship Fund (VASF) was ratified by the board. The remaining 50% of profits will be allocated to the local
Monique Burr Foundation.
The August kick-off event is scheduled for Thursday, August 27 at the Times Grill, at 13500 Beach Blvd. to
begin at 6:30 pm. The chapter will provide appetizers. Drinks and full meals can be purchased from Times Grill.
There will not be an advance payment for those attending.
Other discussions included football game viewing parties to also be held at Times Grill and financial matters.

As discussed, progress has been made on the planning of the Big Orange Caravan and golf tournament,
scheduled for May 18, 2009 at the Osprey Cove Golf Course and Country Club in St. Mary's Georgia. Additional
sponsors, golfers, prizes, and volunteers are being sought.
By unanimous vote it was decided that Times Grill at 13500 Beach Blvd, Jacksonville will be the site for
the 2009 viewing parties.
Also discussed were the slate of officers for 2009 / 2010, and the summer event in late August (which is
being considered at a restaurant).

The main item of discussion was the 2009 Big Orange Caravan (BOC) stop scheduled for Jacksonville and its
associated golf tournament. The first item of planning to be expedited will be the confirmation of golf
tournament chair persons and site for tournament and banquet.
Also discussed were federal income tax procedures, other fiscal matters, compliance with the awards
criteria, and training sessions scheduled by the UTAA
A food drive will be held at the Wyoming football game viewing party.

The summer kick off event has been scheduled for Thursday, August 21 at Sneakers Sports Grill, 8133
Point Meadows Drive (near Baymeadows Road and Highway 9A). A private room has been reserved starting at
6:30 pm. Plans are for the chapter to provide appetizers. There will not be an advance payment for those
attending as in the past, but drinks and full meals can be purchased from Sneakers.
As a result of Scott Forbes's decision to temporarily resign from the board due to career change conflicts,
Mike Deitschmann was unanimously elected to replace him as treasurer.
Other items discussed were viewing parties, the awards criteria, scholarship procedures, and IRS impacts
on the chapter.

Discussions were conducted on the spring banquet scheduled for April 22 at the TPC at Sawgrass
clubhouse. Of particular concern has been getting banquet information to as many as possible on the
master membership list.
A list of nominees for next year's (2008 / 2009) officers and board members was approved unanimously.
These will be voted upon by the chapter membership at the spring banquet.
A new event in late August preferably at a restaurant with a private room was suggested to replace
the summer picnic held for several years at a Jacksonville Suns baseball game. This change expected to
better accommodate raffling, will be investigated.

It was reported that basketball game viewing parties at Bogey Grille will be on January 13
(South Carolina - women), January 19 (Ohio State - men), February 9 (LSU - men), and February 21
(Alabama -women). Raffling will not be conducted.
The main item of discussion was on the site for the spring banquet, which has been scheduled for
April 22 with Dr.Naima Moustaid-Moussa of the University to speak on the new Obesity Research Center.
The chapter plans to have a buffet banquet at the TPC at Sawgrass subject to finalizing of details
with the TPC. A tour of the TPC facilities will be available for those attending.
The board was reminded that nominees for 2008 / 2009 officers and board members are needed prior
to the April board meeting.
Other discussions dealt with compliance with the alumni chapter awards criteria so the gold medal
status can be continued, and the Big Orange Caravan (BOC) / golf tournament in 2009.

It was reported that the Big Orange Caravan (BOC) will not come to Jacksonville until
the spring of 2009 based on information received from the University. The next golf tournament
which will be in conjunction with the BOC will be planned for 2009 instead of 2008.
Discussions were conducted on raffling and T- shirt sales, a possible additional viewing
party site, the recent college fair, basketball game viewing parties, and the preliminary
planning of the 2008 spring banquet.

The summer kick-off picnic has been scheduled for Friday, August 2007, at the Baseball
Grounds of Jacksonville. Details are on the Jacksonville Chapter web site.
Items discussed were the current alumni chapter awards criteria, the expected raffling of
rights to buy approximately 3 pairs of 2007 Florida / Tennessee football game tickets, the
proposed sale of T shirts illustrating the Jacksonville Alumni Chapter, and early planning
for a golf tournament in the spring of 2008 to be associated with the Big Orange Caravan.

Discussions were conducted on the spring banquet scheduled for April 18 at Oceans 60,
Atlantic Beach and the summer picnic to be held at a Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville
sky box during a Jacksonville Suns home game in late August. An attempt will be made
to schedule the summer picnic for a home game on Friday August 24.
The nominating committees list of nominees for next years (2007 / 2008) officers and
board members was approved unanimously. These will be voted upon by the chapter
membership at the spring banquet.

Discussions continued on the acquisition of logos for chapter business cards and a
suggested UTAA web site competition. Also under old business there was discussion
on how events and communications could be improved.
It was decided under new business that a list of basketball games for viewing parties at
Bogey Grille would be prepared and Emailed to the chapter membership.
Site selection and final planning for the spring banquet to be held in late April or early
May were discussed. Libby Dixner volunteered to work on this. She will be assisted by
Pat Norris.

Membership information has been updated and chapter members familiarized with
current activities through Emails. Tina Dasha and Patsy Hite have handled this task in
an excellent manner.
Other items of discussion under Committee Reports included a suggested web site
competition among alumni chapters, college fairs, scholarships, football game viewing
parties, viewing parties for some basketball games, and a secondary viewing party site.
Although viewing parties will continue to be held at Bogey Grille in Ponte Vedra Beach,
a secondary viewing party site is needed since many chapter members have a long drive
to Ponte Vedra Beach.
Under New Business, a decision was made to delay a desired golf tournament until the
Spring of 2008, when the Big Orange Caravan is expected to be held again in the
Jacksonville area.
Also, there were preliminary discussions on the spring banquet as well as the mechanism
for nominations and election of chapter officers and board members for 2007 / 2008.
